Pheno Hunt #12: The Frosty Biscotti Story

F
Frosted Genetics

We popped 400 seeds. Killed 396. The four survivors went through 18 months of testing across three environments. One phenotype frosted so hard the trimmers thought it was mold. That's the one we kept. This is the full story behind our most requested strain.

We popped 400 seeds. Killed 396. The four survivors went through 18 months of testing across three environments. One phenotype frosted so hard the trimmers thought it was mold. That's the one we kept.

The Frosty Biscotti project started in early 2024. We crossed our keeper Biscotti cut — a pheno we'd been running for two years with consistently insane terp profiles — with a reversed Gelato 41 male that tested high for trichome production markers.

From those 400 seeds, we did aggressive culling at every stage. Germination rate was 94%, which is standard. At the seedling stage, we cut anything that showed structural weakness. By week 3 of veg, we were down to about 200 plants.

The real selection started in flower. We were looking for three things: trichome density (obviously), terpene complexity, and structure that could handle the weight. Most Biscotti crosses produce dense nugs that need support — we wanted something that could hold itself up.

By week 5 of flower, we had our four finalists. We cloned them and ran a second round in three different environments: a controlled indoor with LEDs, a greenhouse with supplemental lighting, and a small outdoor test plot.

Pheno #347 was the clear winner. In all three environments, it produced the densest trichome coverage we've ever seen on a Biscotti cross. The trimmers on the indoor run literally asked if it had powdery mildew — that's how frosted it was under the loupe.

The terp profile came back at 4.2% total terpenes, dominated by limonene and caryophyllene with a strong linalool backbone. It smells like lemon cookies dipped in gas. The high is immediate and heavy, settling into a full-body stone that lasts 2-3 hours.

We ran Pheno #347 through six more cycles before we were confident enough to release it. Every run was consistent. That's the standard. One good run means nothing. Six consistent runs across different environments — that's a strain.

Frosty Biscotti hit the Vault in January 2026. It sold out in 72 hours. It's been our most requested restock ever since.
